EMERGENCY FIRST AID / CPR / AED Training &
RE-CERTIFICATION
Emergency First Aid is a one day course designed
to help prepare individuals in an emergency situation. They will
learn such procedures as: how to approach a scene safely, airway
and breathing emergencies, cardiovascular emergencies/CPR all
levels and secondary survey including taking patient information
and vital signs.

STANDARD FIRST
AID / CPR / AED Training
This
program covers all skills taught in Emergency First Aid and includes
care for musculoskeletal, soft tissue and head and spine injuries,
heat and cold emergencies, poisonings, and sudden medical conditions.

STANDARD FIRST AID CPR/AED RE-CERTIFICATION
Standard First Aid re certification is an 8 hour re-examination
of their practical skills and a written quiz.

OXYGEN ADMINISTRATION
Participants will be trained in the use of resuscitation masks and
other oxygen equipment for both breathing and non-breathing patients.

• Prerequisites: current certification in Adult CPR
• Retraining every 3 years

"TWO DAY" RED CROSS FIRST RESPONDER
/ CPR / AED / ADVANCED OXYGEN ADMINISTRATION
for Pre-Service Firefighter EPC Grads only.
Only those students who have completed the Emergency
Patient Care segment of their Pre-Services Firefighter program are
eligible to enroll in this two day course.
Participants are challenging the Red Cross First Responder program
with the implementation of real life scenarios, casualty simulation
and the Canadian Red Cross First Responder quiz. All areas of patient
care are addressed and closely critiqued. Also, due to the fact
that CPR/AED and oxygen administration are common forms of field
treatment, the first day of this two day program participants are
trained in these areas and then utilize them during day two. Please
note that each successful student will receive a First Responder
CPR/AED wallet card, a First Responder 8 1/2 wall certificate and
an oxygen administration wallet card.

It is suggested that Pre-Service Fire Students take
this one day training program before they enroll in the Two Day
First Responder program. This will help the student be fully prepared
to meet all of the requirements of the Two day First Responder program.

FIRST RESPONDER
with AED Medical sign off
By taking this course, you will gain knowledge, skills and confidence
to give appropriate care when you are called to help a casualty
of injury or sudden illness.
Care includes boarding, application of cervical collars, auscultate/palpating
blood pressure, various splinting methods such as anatomical, rigid
& soft splinting, oxygen administration, AED, emergency child
birth, reaching and moving casualties and much more. The First Responder
will learn to react, think and improvise at any emergency situation.

recommended
• Re-training is every 3 years

FIRST
RESPONDER RE-CERTIFICATION

This is a hands-on and written re-testing
of the skills already learned in the full program. It is the responsibility
of each participant to review before class. There is no manual handed
out with this program!
