As a full time firefighter, Offshore Safety and Survival
Graduate, Certified Red Cross Instructor and trainer
my commitment to helping others is evident. After
my first year on the department (1997), I was approached
to become a member of our First Aid Committee. As
many of you are now aware, 60-70 % of the emergency
calls that are dispatched to fire halls in Ontario
are medically related. What better way to become confident
in this area than to sign up.
A few years later, a fellow firefighter asked me to
provide a first aid class for his wife’s dental
office and the rest is history.
2001 was the year it all officially started.
Along the way we have been able to acquire the right
equipment, staff and teaching methods to provide the
kind of first aid programs that individuals and companies
are looking for.
We decided
that if we were to go ahead with this, there were
a few ideals we would follow to attain superior customer
satisfaction.

We offer all participants every opportunity
to contact us with questions they may have
after every course taught. If necessary, we
will make a return visit to demonstrate any
areas of the courses that were unclear.

With CPR representing the baseline for any medical
program, we, like many others use the slogan –
"Just remember you're ABC's"
(airway, breathing and circulation or pulse).
Our addition to
that is:
"When providing care to a patient, give good
care. Just give them what they need OR what they
do not have!" |
